Close to the industrial centres of Scotland, the park lies in 400 hectacres of countryside in the valley of the River Clyde between junctions 5 and 6 off the M74 motorway.  Mature woodlands, rough wetlands, wildlife refuges and neat open parkland all surround Strathclyde Loch, the focal point of the parks many activities.  Strathclyde Country Park is firmly established as one of Scotland's leading centres for outdoor recreation.
